About Tony Davis

Tony Davis

Tony Davis

Anthony Davis – known as Tony Davis – has worked with computers since 1954 when he was introduced to them as an mathematics undergraduate at Cambridge.

He holds post graduate qualifications in Computer Science, Operations Research (a kind of Applied Mathematics) and also is a qualified doctor with postgraduate qualifications in Medicine.  During the majority of his working life he was employed in Medicine and IT simultaneously.

His IT career has involved working for and with ICL, IBM, Dept of Health in UK and the Dept of Health in South Australia.  He has worked with web sites since 1994.

He retired from active medical practice in 1999 and has been involved in web site design and redesign for the UK Government since then.

Presently he lives a retired life in Switzerland – skiing in the winter – and in France -in the Medoc – in the summer.

Not content to sit in the sunshine his passion is to create web sites which benefit their owners.  This is a partnership rather than a supplier client relationship.  Unless the web site achieves its costed goals he believes that the owner should not be given a heavy bill.  This is not a free service but one in which the owner’s success determines his success.

He has been married to Lizzie since 1968 and they have three children and four grandchildren.

In the winter, when the light is good, he likes to ski and is known to ski quite quickly.

In the summer he enjoys life in a converted stable block in a vineyard with access to an excellent French summer kitchen and pool.

When not sat at a computer he enjoys being active, reading books and getting brown.

This blog is about the major passions of his life.
